Heidelberg

Saturday ex-Elder Hewitt, now known as Lloyd, came back from London for a visit. He was assigned to our area right before he went home from his mission. So we all went to Heidelberg for the day. I've been there twice now and it's one of my favorite cities I've been to so far. Sadly I was only there for a few hours this time, but it was still fun. We ate some schnitzel and walked around the walkplatz.

Spring Spree

Part I

Today I went to the BX for some basic items. (For you non-military folks, the BX is the Base Exchange - it's kind of like our base Walmart.) Well I kind of ended up going on a small shopping spree.

I keep hearing how great these are to have. This one was on sale so I thought, what the heck. So if you have any good slow-cooker recipes, let me know!

The one rug I have hasn't been vacuumed since I got back from TX, so I figured I should invest in one of these

When I'm sitting on my couch eating snacks, I'm waaay too lazy to get up and go to my kitchen to throw wrappers away. So I bought this shiny little gadget to put next to my couch. :)

Somehow in all my moving around in the last few years, and many a different roommate I went from 8 sets of silverware to 4 spoons, 4 forks, and about a gajillion knives. Basically I decided I needed some more silverware and I loved these ones.

I also bought new sheets, mixing bowls, and bath mats.

Part II

It's FINALLY warm outside! Spring is here - Yay! I'm so happy. I was able to be outside without my jacket for the first time in forever. So when I got home I decided to go chill on my back patio and play with my camera. These are just from my back yard.

A day in Bonn

Today I went with a couple friends to Bonn- a town a couple hours from here. The original intent of this trip was to see the Haribo factory (that's the gummi candy company in case you didn't know). Well we got to the factory and thought there would be some sort of tour or something, but all we found was a big gummi shop.


So we loaded up with a months worth of gummis then decided to see what else was downtown.
We went to lunch at a little cafe in the town center. Towns in Germany are awesome because cars aren't aloud to drive in the streets of the city center, it's all just shops and people.


Turns out Beethoven lived in the center of Bonn and you can go in and tour his house, so we did that. It was pretty cool. They have a lot of his stuff on display.


Afterwards we went looking for pastries, but it was sooo cold outside we decided to duck into H&M (clothing store) for a min to warm up. Well I was looking at jackets and saw this one that had been thrown on a rack. I picked it up and tried it on and it fit PERFECTLY. I usually can't find a jacket that has the right cut, but this one was perfect and the sleeve length was perfect. Well there was no price tag on it, and I looked all over the store trying to find other ones like it, but they weren't anywhere. So I figured it probably would be around 30 euro and decided to just buy it. Well I went to pay for it and when they rang it up - 9 euro! It was awesome! It was like destiny.

We followed that up with some chocolate filled pastries then drove home. Not a bad day at all :)
