Apparently I'm a Runner Now

So a few months ago I made the statement that I have no intention of running more than 2 miles ever again.

Watch the words you say, for they will surely come back to bite you

Not two weeks later I was told that at work we were all going to be running a 10k (when you work in the military they can mandate things like that).  So I started running to get in shape for that. At the same time my sister was training for a half marathon, and one Saturday I went running with her. I ended up running a full 10 miles with her (farthest I've ever run, ever). I discovered that running with someone and at a slower pace for a long distance is actually kind of enjoyable. My sister suggested we run a half together.

So now we're signed up for this:

If you're going to run, it might as well be in the happiest place on earth. And this won't be my last - because I really want to get one of these:

If you run a half at both Disneyland and Disney World in the same year you get this "Coast to Coast" medal.

I've also invested quite a bit of money in running gear - expensive, but I find I'm much more motivated to get out and run when I have cool new running stuff to wear.

Update Time

I suppose it's time for my semi-annual blog update (I really need to get better at posting. Ha)

Here's a few of the major events that have happened over the last few months. Picking up where I left off...

Hawaii!
I took a trip to Hawaii with my good friend Paige. It was my first time there and soooo awesome. I can't wait to go back.

Father's Funeral
My father passed away on 13 Feb.  As active duty military I was able to participate in the flag ceremony at the funeral.

Snowboarding Trip
On a much happier note, my good friend from DC came out for a visit. It was a really good time. We did a little snowboarding and a lot of lounging.

Florida Trip 1
I had to go to Mississippi for work so over the weekend I was there I drove over to visit an old friend in FL. I hadn't seen her in a few years so that was awesome.

Florida Trip 2
My family (those of us who could go) decided to plan an almost impromptu trip to Orlando. We planned it a couple months ago but it was still a lot less planning than we normally do for trips. We hit up Universal and Disneyworld. Way good time.

I think that about covers the major events this year so far. I'll try to stay a little more caught up from now on. Ha.
