Weekend adventures

This weekend was pretty adventure filled.

Friday after work a group of us drove over to Luxembourg to see a movie. We heard they had a nice theater and it's only about an hour and a half away. The guys went and saw GI Joe and us girls went to My Life in Ruins. It was alright - very much a chick flick.

Saturday morning me and a couple friends drove up to Frankfurt to the Temple. It was neat. The session was in English, but most of the temple workers didn't speak English. There were even a couple people in our session listening to it in Italian and German. ( I took these pics with my new fancy camera :) )

After that we went around the corner and ate at a little Italian place. It was def owned by LDS people - notice the pics up on the wall on the left and right. (if you can't tell they're LDS paintings) (and that's stephanie)

After Frankfurt we met up with a bunch of other people and drove up to Bernkastel-Kues for their weinfest (wine festival). They basically close off the main street and just have booths of food and, of course, wine. People there actually just bring their own wine or shot glass so they can try all the different drinks. I even saw girls wearing shot glasses on ropes around their neck. Needless to say there were plenty of singing drunk people around.
Aside from the food and drinks there were carnival rides. And then when it got dark there was a cool firework show. The festival is right on the river, and just up the hill from the river is the castle. For the firework show they "reenact" a war on the castle from the river, so they turn off all the lights along the river and shoot off fireworks from both places. It was cool.

But even more exciting - less than 5 min into the show there was a huge bang on one of the boats that was holding a bunch of the fireworks. It then lit on fire and ALL the fireworks on the boat went off at once. It was pretty exciting. I'm just hoping no one was on the boat, cuz that would have been really bad. But it was up against the dock and no ambulances came or anything so I think it was ok.
I found a video of it on youtube this morning. I can't figure out how to post the actual video in here so I'm just posting the link - but it's def worth watching:

Go to about 3:30 to watch the explosion part.
