Last weekend I went with a group of friends to Oslo, Norway.
Us waiting in the airport. It was pouring outside and we got drenched walking from the parking lot to the terminal. And this airport is just built on an old military base so the terminal is a hanger and therefore not very big so there aren't a lot of places to sit. You can see how thrilled Paige (l) and Jess (r) are about the whole situation
We landed in Norway at about 9pm, then had a couple hour bus ride to Oslo. This picture was taken at about 10pm. It stays light REALLY long
We were all exhausted after the traveling so we didn't do anything Fri night, but we went out exploring all day Saturday.
This is the Viking Museum. There are some different ships and other artifacts on display that were recovered from various viking burial mounds and such
After the Viking Museum we went to the Folks Museum - It's like this little village that's set up in olden day norway style. It starts out in like the 1950's, then the farther you walk the older stuff gets. It was pretty cool
They also had real people sitting in these houses doing things like knitting, baking, and tending goats and wearing all the traditional clothes

After the museums we went to the sculpture park. There were some really weird statues- all of people, and none with clothes. I don't think we saw a statue all weekend that had clothing. Oslo is weird like that. This is all of us standing next to a statue
That night we went to an Icebar. Everything is made of ice - the walls, the stools, the cups. It was super cold so they give you parkas

It was a super awesome weekend, and I'm not so thrilled to be back at work and real life.
As always, more pics on facebook!

How Fun! I am so jealous of all these cool things you get to see and do! :) I'm glad I get to live them vicariously through you!
ReplyDeleteThe Icebar looks interesting--there is something that is going on my list to see someday! :)
That looks like it was so much fun. I hope that I can come out and see you sometime. You will have to show me some of your favorite things.
